The road to going platinum starts at gold

Congrats are in order for the kid out of Compton they call Kendrick Lamar. His latest opus To Pimp A Butterfly has officially been certified gold by the RIAA. The album, which released ahead of its scheduled released date in March, only took a month to achieve this milestone, while his sophomore effort accomplished this same feat in just under two months.

As of April 15, the album has sold a total of 593,000 copies in the United States and now puts him among the likes of Drake, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor and “Fifty Shades Of Grey” to push above the 500,000 records sold mark in 2015. TBAB has already nabbed itself a few accolades, being the record holder for Spotify’s global streaming record with 9.8 million streams in one day and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

We expect the already labeled classic album to pull in some more accolades before the year is up.
