2 Chainz and Lil Wayne have paved the way for many rappers coming from the South, but before them, they were influenced by other artists to be who they are now.
Backstage after their first ColleGrove performance in Atlanta, the two speak on how much Goodie Mob played a major influence on them growing up. Tity Boi paid homage to Cee-Lo Green for still doing his thing now and Weezy even went as far as to rap one of his verses during the interview.
Wayne was then asked about how he approaches Mannie Fresh beats and he revealed that a Mannie beat takes him back to being young and rapping with the Hot Boyz, eager to impress the Cash Money crew. Having worked with Fresh plenty of times, he knows exactly what the producer likes, but trying to come up with lines he’s never said before is quite difficult for him.
