Conducting a rare in person interview at the New Jersey State Prison, Complex Magazine sat down with the one and only Max Biggavelli. While he’s still fighting to re-obtain freedom after being sentenced to 75 years nearly four years ago, now at the age of 35 years old, Charly ‘Max B’ Wingate is still holding his head high with a smile on his face.

“As far as his melodies, they were second to none as far as I was concerned,” says Roc Marciano, a critically acclaimed MC/producer from Hempstead, Long Island, on a recent phone call. “In my opinion, he was the street version of what Drake is — the fans can have Drake, but the streets have Max.”

In the interview Max B opens up about how he’s been dealing with his incarnation, including seeing his best friend French Montana achieve commercial success the two played 5 years ago before the fame; and most of all, the impact it’s his immediate family.

This character is not letting me go. And I want to let it go. Maybe it’s a fear, right? Like something you’re letting go, but you’re actually not letting anything go.
