Maxwell – Noteworthy [Documentary]

Following a piece with Miguel last time around, NPR Music are continuing their ‘Noteworthy’ documentary series with an older R&B head, Maxwell. The great soul singer, whose new album BlackSUMMERS’night has been met with much praise, caught up with Jason King and brought along his longtime collaborator Hod David.

Maxwell talks about the importance of New York in his music, the jobs he had to raise money for instruments, his situation when Urban Hang Suite was released, starting his latest album in 2001, preferring to use first takes and how meeting Hod changed everything
