Method Man recently stopped by the GQ offices to take part in their ‘Actually Me’ series, which sees artists and actors going undercover and responding to random people on the Internet.
During the segment, the rapper replied to a tweet asking why Meth isn’t starring as himself in the upcoming Hulu series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga. “Now see, this has come up a lot,” Meth said. “I cannot play myself as young myself, it wouldn’t even look right.”
Meth then went on to explain why Dave East got the nod for the role. “I saw it as an opportunity for somebody that’s like myself when I first got into it, ’cause there weren’t a lot of people giving you a chance to show that you can do it,” he said. “So when I seen Dave’s name in the pot I was like, ‘yeah he’s just like me. And he wants to be an actor, fuck it, give him his shot.'”
