Mos Def is Quitting Music
Reports surfaced last week that Yasiin Bey, better known as Mos Def, had been arrested in South Africa for attempting to leave with an unidentifiable world passport. The rapper apparently entered the country as an American back in 2013 and has since then overstayed his VISA, in addition to his family. They have been ordered to leave the country within 14 days.
Now, a 10-minute recording has been posted to Kanye West’s website, where he says that he never committed a crime. Mos also thanks Yeezy for being “a real friend” and drops the bomb that he’s retiring from the music industry. The good news, though, is that a new album is coming this year.
Yasiin has also shares some images on Instagram, which reveal collaborations with Kanye West, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco.
