Nicki Minaj leaves Apple Music for Amazon Queen Radio, to help launch the company’s new social radio app with Pusha T, Tinashe and more. With social audio platforms rising during the months of the pandemic, Amazon is next to step in to capture a new user base.

The reason why we’re mentioning Drake in the headline, is because this is very unusual for two of the biggest people in entertainment to both leave Apple Music within a year of each other.

Considering they’re some of the most streamed people on the service, we’re curious at what Amazon will be doing next. They’ve been supported by both Kanye West and Drake, with their FREE LARRY HOOVER CONCERT over the holidays.

We’ve previously seen Clubhouse, Spotify Greenroom, and Twitter Spaces, which has allowed people to connect for business, personal and everyday use. Amazon has launched their new create your own radio show service on iOS called Amp. Currently, it’s not available on Android yet, as Amp Vice President John Ciancutti explained the new service in a blog post.

John Ciancutti said, “Radio has always been about music and culture. But imagine if you were inventing the medium for the first time today. You’d combine what people love about radio—spontaneous talk, new music discovery, diverse personalities, and broad programming—with all that’s made possible by today’s technology. You’d make it so anybody with a phone, a voice, and a love for music could make their own show. And that’s exactly what we’re doing. Amp makes it possible for you to grab the mic and run the airwaves. We are creating a new version of radio that will have an infinite dial of shows.”

Below, you can watch Nicki’s IG Live from today, as well as a commercial for the service.
