The Game 1992
Released: October 14, 2016
Must Listen: Young Niggas

We should start this by saying, The Game pulled a very meaningless beef out of his behind to promote this album, and its a shame because it’s so good. Meek Mill is a perfect target for things like that at this point in time, and he was the victim of a brutal diss track that led the campaign for Game’s new album 1992. All beef aside, “92 Bars” is some of Game’s best bars ever with him dropping quotable after quotable for roughly 4 and a half minutes before cutting into Meek. Enough of that though, this is why you should spin 1992.

It’s a trip down memory lane, with Game attacking some classic tracks with tenacity only he can spit with. He tries his hand at a number of classic’s such as D.O.C’s “It’s Funky Enough,” Ice Cube’s “Check Yo Self,” and even The Dells “You Can Depend On Me.” He sampled even more tracks, but those are just a few notable ones. He experimented heavy on the production side, and it paid off for him big. Bongo chopped some of the samples so well Game could have mumbled on the tracks and won.

The concept behind the album is also very dope as well. It’s an album about how the year 1992 shaped Game into the artist he is today, and essentially the year that made him into The Game. He uses some great story telling to get that across too, just listen to tracks like “Savage Lifestyle” and “Young Niggas.” All these factors make for 1992 not only being one of Game’s strongest efforts, but an album we’ll be listening to for a little while to come.
