More unfortunate news has rocked the hip-hop community this weekend, as popular Georgia rapper Peewee Longway was among 101 people arrested in a massive bust on Thursday. Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman, alongside federal and local law enforcement, led the operation.

At a news conference on Friday morning, the county sheriff, FBI, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) confirmed that 155 firearms and 496 pounds of methamphetamine were seized, with a total street value of $22.4 million.

Dubbed Operation “Sweet Silence”, the FBI deployed over 250 agents and analysts, including seven SWAT teams, to carry out the arrests. The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office had been targeting individuals from the Zohannons and the Crips in an investigation that spanned over two years.

During the press conference, Sheriff Countryman issued a stern warning:

“If you’re involved in criminal activity, I want to send this message to you. Just because your name wasn’t caught in the arrests yesterday, don’t get too comfortable. Our work is not done. We’re still watching, so don’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet.”

In total, federal agents and the DEA seized 155 firearms, 496 pounds of methamphetamine, 57.21 kilograms of cocaine, 7.1 kilograms of fentanyl, 55,248 pounds of marijuana, 1.3 kilograms of heroin, 5.9 pounds of GHB, and 755.8 grams of psychedelic mushrooms.
