Pell is sharing a video for his Saba collaboration, “Throwback,” which appears on last year’s Girasoul EP.
The visual was filmed in sunny Los Angeles using Super 8 cameras, with directors Miles and AJ behind the whole thing. “Shooting the video was dope because it was the first time I was shooting this quality of a video with bystanders walking by watching me do it,” he says. “You could say it was interactive in that way that most of my music videos aren’t.”
The song itself interpolates Kanye West’s classic “Slow Jamz.” “I told her to drive over in her new whip, bring some friends she’s cool with,” Pell raps for the first line. “I’m gone play this Yeezy like we did when life was easy.”
