Following the release of Flee Lord‘s The People’s Champ album, the legendary Pete Rock is back with something on the dolo. And instead of sampling like we’re used to hearing, he’s bringing a live band.
“A lot of this album sounds like samples extracted from records. We dress it up and add definition to what it is. It’s Hip-Hop, but have you ever heard Pete Rock not sample anything or work with a band? It’s exciting. I’m a musician, whether I’m sampling or not. Music is music; it’s what I think about it all day, every day.”
As you can hear from his single “Say It Again,” the groove has elements of jazz, funk and soul. Get ready for his upcoming Petestrumentals 3 album to drop December 11.
