Prodigy of Mobb Deep Passes Away at 42

Earlier this morning, Prodigy, one half of the legendary Queens hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, was found unconscious and passed away. He was only 42 years of age. According to his publicist, the proclaimed HNiC was in the hospital a few days ago following some complications due to his sickle cell anemia. A disease P has been known to have been dealing since birth. As of now, no cause of death has been determined.

Over the weekend, Prodigy was performing with the likes of Ice-T, KRS-One, Onyx, Ghostface Killah in Las Vegas as part of the “Art of Rap” tour. It was then when the emcee fell ill and was hospitalized and had been dealing with health issues for the past several days.

“It is with extreme sadness and disbelief that we confirm the death of our dear friend Albert Johnson, better known to millions of fans as Prodigy of legendary NY rap duo Mobb Deep. Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. The exact causes of death have yet to be determined. We would like to thank everyone for respecting the family’s privacy at this time.”
