Pusha T Breaks Down Biggie’s Verse on Puff Daddy’s “Young G’s”

Pitchfork’s ‘VERSES’ series has seen everyone from T-Pain to Rae Sremmurd to A$AP Ferg breaking down some of their favorite tracks of all time. Next up, it’s Pusha T, who decided to break down The Notorious B.I.G.‘s classic verse on Puff Daddy’s “Young G’s.”

The Virginia rapper talked about getting music from a bootlegger that DJ Clue threatened to kill, the whole Snoop Dogg, Nas and JAY-Z climate in 1995, and the storytelling and flows in Biggie’s lines. “‘Ready to Die’ came out and B.I.G. was great — he was great,” Push said. “But, it was still an argument, and this verse silenced the argument for me.”
