Q-Tip has been relatively quiet in music lately but has still managed to keep himself involved in some of the biggest projects to be released over the past 365. Q-Tip visited The Red Bull Music Academy and sat down with Chairman Jeff Mao for a couple hours to talk about everything he’s been involved with. In short, Q-Tip talks about working with Kanye West on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and reveals Soulja Boy is actually on a record somewhere on the session’s hard drive. The video is two hours long but for those who are aware of the role Q-Tip has played in hip-hop (as well as those who are not familiar) this is a must watch and filled with knowledge from one of the legend’s still out there doing it.
At the 1:36 mark, Q-Tip plays a snippet of what would have been the final edit of Kanye West’s unreleased “Mama’s Boyfriend”. Watch the video in full after the jump.
