At midnight tonight, A Tribe Called Quest will release We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, their first album since 1998 and also their last. In a new segment for CBS This Morning, Q-Tip gave an exclusive behind the scenes tour of his iconic studio in New Jersey.
He showed various equipment and talked about how the Ramones, Blondie, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga have all worked in the studio. Statik Selektah happened to be working in the studio while Q-Tip was giving the tour: “Every time I come here, something historic happens,” says the producer.
Q-Tip also went through his record collection and revealed the work board for the album, where they brainstormed things like track titles and other ideas. The likes of Andre 3000, Alicia Keys and Kanye are among those who signed it.
