R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty to 11 New Sexual Assault Charges

R. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to 11 new sexual assault charges, CBS News reports.

The singer appeared at his arraignment in Chicago this morning, denying all charges related to the sexual abuse of Jerhonda Pace, which allegedly took place in 2010. Pace told her story in the recent Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly.

Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg told reporters, “We pled not guilty to all of the charges because he’s not guilty. If you didn’t do it, then you didn’t do it. I think he’s feeling positive. It’s tough. Everything is against him. If the feds indict Robert, then we’ll deal with it.”

Four of the charges are Class X felonies, which each carry six-year minimum sentences and up to 30 years per count.
