As a result of that R. Kelly documentary, Surviving R. Kelly, everyone and their mother has been coming out and speaking out about what they think of the R&B veteran. From artists like Lady Gaga, who worked with him (she said she wants to removed their collaboration off streaming services) to even his own estranged daughter.
On Instagram stories today, Buku Abi broke her silence and decided to share her feelings on social media for those who were interested in her thoughts:
“To the people who feel that I should be speaking up / against everything is going on right now. I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for what I feel currently. I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless.
My choice not to speak on him and what he does is for my peace of mind.
The same monster you all confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house.”
She also said that neither her or her mother (or siblings) have spoken to Robert in years and that all the talk in the industry has not helped their healing process.
R. Kelly was spotted at the club recently stating that he didn’t care about what’s going on. He’s currently being investigated criminally in Georgia and it seems like this is just the start of what may be a rough road ahead.
