The Rae Sremmurd duo recently caught up with Pitchfork for their ‘VERSES’ series, where they discussed their favorite songs and rapped along to them.
Slim Jxmmi‘s pick? Nas and AZ’s “Life’s a Bitch” off Illmatic. “Honestly, I can’t tell you when the first time I heard the Nas track was,” he says. “I just know that over time as I got older and kept listening to it, I could just relate to it more and more.”
As for Swae Lee, he went for The Game and 50 Cent’s “Hate It or Love It” off The Documentary. “It felt like people were rejoicing,” he says. “It made me feel like I was overcoming something. I heard that song when I was real young.”
