Raekwon, French Montana, Vince Staples Talk Rap Music Generation Gap

There’s always that debate about old heads and new kids and why they could never get jiggy with each other’s generations. Vince Staples has ruffled some feathers in the past and there have been various times where rap legends have been ashamed by some of the stuff the young cats do in the game.

Raekwon, Pete Rock, French Montana, Scarface and Vince talked about this very topic. Angie Martinez hosted the panel, as they all gave their opinions about why there’s a disconnect.

The Chef said it’s up to the young bulls to do their research and go back and learn about the older music, while Face Mob agreed and said that’s what you do if you’re a student of the game. Staples said instead of criticizing the new generation for not knowing their history, the older heads should be teaching the young cats how to run a business and what to do with their money once their success runs out.
