Reminisce With The Inventors Of The Group Mixtape: Dipset

Mixtape: Diplomats Volume 1 | Hosted By DJ Kay Slay
Year: 2002

From the mink coats on the front cover, Harlem U.S.A.’s own Diplomats emerged in the game with DJ Kay Slay and their comrades (minus Freekey Zeeky, O.T. getting to guap).

Cam’ron had just signed his major label deal, the Dipset movement was hitting the national scene, largely due in part to “Oh Boy.” Killa had put in years of work under The Notorious B.I.G. and Ma$e, and was finally ready to achieve that solo commercial success his predecessors achieved in their day. Along with The Heatmakerz providing the beats, Jimmy Jones and Juelz joined Killa in a large promotion for his upcoming Come Home With Me album, but more importantly, the Dipset movement was on a larger scale.
