RZA Talks Mumble Rap, New New York Artists & Remembers Prodigy

We all know the term ‘mumble rap’ by now, coined by old heads or folks who don’t listen to a section of the new generation of artists that flood the Internet and mainstream.

One of the OG’s of this rap shit was asked about the term and some of the artists involved with it and he couldn’t hate. In an interview Montreality, RZA says that neither he or his Wu-Tang Clan brothers can discriminate on music, even though they grew up in an era of lyricism. He compared it to ‘eating meat,’ for those who are vegetarian. You can’t hate on what another man eats. He did say, put down the syrup, though.

RZA (and Ghostface Killah) also touched on some of the new artists from New York they’re fucking with, like Dave East, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Young M.A., Joey Bada$$, and A$AP Mob.
