As fans of ScHoolboy Q, we know he takes a few years between albums. Literally, Habits & Contradictions, Oxymoron and Blank Face were all two years apart. At the end of last month, Groovy Tony teased new music coming this year and today, in a visit with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, he elaborates on what he’s got coming.

In the interview, he says he’s never been inspired this fast. He has half the album done already and wants to show the other side of himself on the new effort. He described himself as a ‘deadbeat’ before, but now that he’s seen success and changed, he wants to show fans another facet of his personality. The father, the happy guy, etc.

He also said him and Anderson .Paak have a handful of songs in the stash and explained the TDE system of releases. He mentioned the fact that on this album, he’s had his homies around the studio a lot more to keep him grounded and wants to help put them in position.

Plus, he addressed his GRAMMY nominations and what it means to him for his work to be recognized.

If you missed the interview on Apple Music earlier, you can catch the 15-minute talk up top. And make sure you follow him on social media for more updates on the album.
