It’s been a long time coming for ScHoolboy Q. Being fans of Quincy for years (we’ve been on the wave since before Setbacks), we’ve seen his growth as an artist since the start. He went from being Kendrick’s hypeman to establishing himself as a solo artist and separating from that shadow. Now it’s all culminated to the release of his major label debut OXYMORON and he’s officially on the map.
Q might be the most ignorant out of TDE, but that doesn’t mean he’s not spitting daggers either. He’s put Figueroa on the map, making fans scream “Figg Side” and “YAWK! YAWK! YAWK!” everywhere the crew goes. From pushing pills to slanging raps, ScHoolboy is the epitome of gangsta rap in 2014, and one of the last one’s left.
Today, on the release of his album, we pay homage to the funny guy out of Black Hippy and look back at all of his featured verses over the years. It might be a while before we hear him on someone else’s track, so this should have to hold you over.
