Staff Picks: Albums We Listened To In 2014

MVP

Keep in mind, this is a staff pick selection of projects throughout the year we had in our own personal collection and not a ratings system of the best albums that released the last 12 months – we’ll leave that to the so-called “taste makers”, who know music so good. For my personal preference, I didn’t want to hear anything (really emphasize that) with the exception of ratchet R&B; which was highlighted by the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Chris Brown and even the Queen herself, Beyoncé.

Many fans of all genres have called the last 12 months one of the worst years in rap music; and examining what I was listening to with friends out and about, that wouldn’t be a reach for me to agree with them. Alternative sounds ranging from Coldplay, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran to name a few also kept me at ease.
