As far as albums are concerned, 2014 has been one of my most enjoyable years in a long time. In comparison to 2013, the only thing lacking was the amount of major urban releases, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. From electronica to soul, there’s a little bit of everything in my selection. After cutting down to a tricky 15 projects, I discovered a few things. There’s hip-hop from Chattanooga, Chicago and Los Angeles, solo albums from Radiohead and Blur frontmen and evidence to support Future Classic’s supremacy. If the last 12 months are considered mediocre, I’m ready for 2015.
