Staff Picks: Our Favorite Albums of 2015

MVP

For whatever reason, I’ve been into R&B music more than lately. While 2014 produced some of the most lackluster rap sounds that I can remember in quite some time, the last 12 months have produced some of the best hip-hop content this decade – maybe even of all-time.

Future’s run was one of the greatest we’ve ever seen in music. Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore album wasn’t a hit for mainstream but beloved as a rap classic. Dr. Dre made a surprise comeback and everyone was watching Drake continue to raise his iconic status in the game.

Surprisingly, with all of this great content, I just stuck with my personal listening preferences of ratchet R&B content. Keep in mind, just like the rest of our picks, this isn’t a “best of” list from music, this is just purely the sounds the homies and myself enjoyed in 2015.

My list below is in no order, outside of Bryson Tiller, who’s been in rotation since first coming across him a year ago. I’m just hopeful that this amount of quality R&B continues into 2016, with the content we received this year from all genres of music.
