Stormzy‘s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer is without a doubt one of the biggest UK releases of the year. The grime MC is continuing to spread the word about it through new visuals, and his latest is the biggest of them all.
This week, Mike is sharing a 16-minute short film to coincide with the album. Directed by Rollo Jackson, the piece focuses on Stormzy’s upbringing, built around narrative scenes and performances of songs from the album. It stars Young Thomas Abdul Basit, Grown Thomas David Alade and Tony Anthony Taylor.
“Young youts like myself, that grow up in the hood, we often don’t know that we are actually the masters of our own destiny,” Stormzy says. “There are so many things that steer us in the wrong direction however, we decide what happens in our own lives and like my album, I endeavored for this film to portray just that. Derived from my album Gang Signs & Prayer, and written and directed by the legend that is Rollo, I’ll let the visual do the talking.”
