The Story Behind Nas’ ‘Hip Hop Is Dead’ Album

It’s crazy to think that NasHip Hop Is Dead album is already 10 years old. For the anniversary, Esco has sat down with Google and Mass Appeal to speak on the inspiration behind the title and the lead single. In the video, Nas explains that he named the album that so the new generation could do something about it. While he was saying hip hop was dead, he wanted it to resurrect and start something a new.

He also talked about how Will.I.Am flipped the single from “Thief’s Theme.”
