T-Pain Gets Real on How Label Merging Has Ruined Urban Music & Artists Careers

Real shit from our guy Teddy P!

Earlier this month, T-Pain held a live-chat with fans to discuss his current free agency from the majors. The legendary singer of North Florida spoke about signing his deal at Jive Records on the same days as Chris Brown in 2005. At that time, Teddy P explained every single he picked to 2008 all went platinum. However, the downhill of his career started after he allowed a label to pick Reverse Cowgirl as his next major single – but said the record wasn’t for him.

Due to that botchery, he was in limbo for six years, waiting to drop his recent Oblivion album over the fall. Things continued into him briefly venting about multiple labels merging, without him (and other musicians) even knowing. He broke down how recently former label consisted of four labels of artists, with only one label worth of staff. Teddy explained how multiple musicians are still getting pushed to the side, without proper focus on each artist at the label.

Before things closed out, he calmly vented about the quality of content in music videos and singles being accepted by the public and majors. This has affected larger budgeted visuals not performing in comparison to a newcomer shooting a video on their iPhone.

Soak up some more game from Teddy below.
