Stars like Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul wouldn’t be where they are today with the people behind the scenes. TDE’s in-house engineer MixedByAli, and producers Sounwave and Tae Beast, recently took part in a 50-minute lecture for Red Bull Music Academy.
During the conversation, they took a moment to remember the late Mac Miller, who Ali considers “the sixth Black Hippy” member and like a little cousin. “Whenever you think about going to a Mac session, it’s like going to your favorite cousin’s house,” Soun said. “It’s always gonna be a good time.” Tae Beast also talked about working with Mac on “Small Worlds” and an unreleased track called “Game 4” with Young Thug.
