Dating back to 1992, Eazy E had plans of taking over the entire rap world, again. With help from Jerry Hellerā€™s street team and inside pull, Eazy had power to move anyway he wanted. So much, that he was making a certain percentage off anything released through Death Row Records, that included Dr. Dre (who was listed as producer the bulk of their catalog).

Fast-forward a few years later, and 2pac was at the helm of the infamous Quad Studios shooting. At the time, E was the only person who said that Makaveli was set up in New York City, as many were afraid to publicly voice their opinion. Not E, he let it be known.

Considering Eazy was really close friends with Treach from Naughty by Nature, right-hand guy of Pac, he felt some sort of obligation to at least help. Prior to signing to Death Row Records, Suge Knight had been trying to get Pac on the roster since Above the Rim.

At the time, Suge paid Pac for two songs on the soundtrack, which was the most he ever saw in his career. However, due to certain street elements and stars already being at Tha Row, Makaveli opted to stay in a previous deal for the time being.

A few months later, the world saw Pac going to trial for false allegations, where he was sentenced to time in prison. This opened the door for Suge to get the star that he wanted to Death Row, which Pac wanted to get out of prison at any cost.

Before signing the line, he knew what he was getting himself into and everything that came with joining solidified label. During that the time, Eazy E was going through life-threatening health problems, which he would later succumb to.

Before he got injected with those dirty needles, he planned to sign Pac to a deal and pair him up with Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony. His initial plan was to make Ruthless the biggest label again on the west coast, following the original ending of N.W.A.

He wasnā€™t planning to recreate that; but with the biggest rapper and group, it wouldā€™ve been pretty hard not to obtain that status. Unfortunately, those health issues we mentioned took up the bulk of his time.

If Eazy knew that Suge was trying to sign Pac, he wouldā€™ve used every resource in his ability to immediately derail the situation. That didnā€™t happen, but months later after Eā€™s passing, Pac briefly diffused the beef between both companies with a collaboration.
