Here is a special leak from Shake this week as he gives us his buzz single. “4.0 (Four Point Oh)” is what Shake describes as part anti-stereotype manifesto, part “eff the establishment”, all the while celebrating academic excellence. So while Shake was being courted by different labels a couple years ago and eventually signing to Universal, they told him they didn’t know how to bring him out. Although things didn’t pan out as he wished, he learned that the industry’s business model is built on competition, not innovation. So instead of chasing the status quo, he began to really embrace the things that made him different. Graduating from Summa Cum Laude is one such thing hes happy he has accomplished. So while we often hear about drug dealers, grandiose living or rappers dropping out, he’s the proud graduate! (For the record, although he maintained a 4.0 for several consecutive semesters, his final GPA was a 3.85, pretty good.)
