My Dear Melancholy has been out for about a week and it’s already receiving a relatively good amount of success. The album is debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 and people continue to dissect which songs The Weeknd is talking about Selena Gomez on. One thing is for sure, whatever pain he went through, he channeled it for the effort and it came out fire.

Titled after track number four on the EP, Abel gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his new project through his short film He Was Never There.

In the 7-minute clip, you can see The Weeknd in the studio working on tracks, recording the records you heard and how he works with some of the collaborators. The video also carries that signature Abel throwback VHS look too.
