The Weeknd only released his new album Starboy on Friday, but he’s already making history. Abel has broken the record for the most Spotify streams in a single day, mostly thanks to the 18 new tracks that appeared on the service last week.
“Spotify’s continued support of The Weeknd has now reached historic proportions and also reinforces the tremendous growth of global streaming,” says Republic Records chairman and co-founder Monte Lipman. There’s currently no word on the exact numbers yet, but it does beat Justin Bieber’s 36 million streams on November 13th, 2015.
