The Weeknd Talks ‘STARBOY’ Album Process, Collaborations with Zane Lowe

It’s crazy to think that after all of these years, The Weeknd has never done an on-camera interview. For the first time ever, Zane Lowe got him to sit down in the studio to talk about his STARBOY album on camera and divulge into everything about how the effort came about.

We heard his thoughts on that Kendrick Lamar collaboration (“Sidewalks”) but Abel also spoke on how close he is with Lana Del Rey, how the Daft Punk-featured records came to fruition, how ‘STARBOY’ is the next chapter in his musical journey and what it was like creating some of the tracks. He and Lowe also took it back to KISS LAND and spoke on how deep, yet claustrophobic, the record was and how that compared to Beauty Behind the Madness.

The interview spans about 43 minutes, so if you have damn near an hour to spare, check out his talk with Zane on Beats 1 up top. It’s not every day he opens up.
