Less than three weeks ago, Troy Ave released his Dope Boy Troy street album – serving as a follow up to holiday released White Christmas 4 mixtape. After receiving a photo message from a fan on social media soon after, regarding his recent life story comparisons to Tupac Shakur’s legal problems; Ave initially planned to just do one song with the artwork.
However, after brainstorming a few cuts with his producer Trilogy, the Brooklyn rapper decided he could go forward with an entire project. Although his promotional campaign may have gotten confused to the general public, Troy went to make it clear that he’s not saying he’s the new Tupac; and is completely playing homage to the late Bay Area rapper.
