After laying down ground work over the last few years, 21-year-old Vic Mensa has received much praise from The Throne and landed a deal with Roc Nation Records a few weeks ago. Seen on Kanye West’s popular hit “Wolves” and his getting assistance on his own release of “U Mad,” Vic sat-down with MTV News to discuss how a brief conversation and bonding with JAY Z over Nirvana led to the two having to do business with each other.
Mensa soon revealed HOV’s passion for the unfortunate disbanded group, and transitioned to discussing connecting to The Throne’s music and coming of age. He soon touched on hitting open mic event with Chance the Rapper and how Kanye decided to change his entire schedule to join the two on stage for a surprise event for fans in Southside, Chicago – which was the highlight of his career thus far.
