YG‘s long-awaited album, My Krazy Life, finally dropped this past Tuesday and it hasn’t left the rotation since. YG undoubtedly delivered with an album that is deep in the west coast roots of Rap and taps into a wave that was much needed in the industry. Armed with a bulk of beats from DJ Mustard, YG brings his listeners an album that is sequenced wonderfully and comes off as a truthful story-telling journey of his life.
For YG, his new effort allows him to take the step in his career that many thought was possible for him when he first came onto the scene. He already has a platinum single in “My Nigga” and with bangers such as “Who Do You Love” and “Left, Right,” this is a project that represents the new breed of West Coast gangsta rap that can succeed in the mainstream. We might even go as far as saying that it’ll be the soundtrack to the summer, because we can envision blasting it in the whip on a sunny day.
