LaMarcus Aldridge Will Be Traded to A Contender
Out of respect, LaMarcus Aldridge and the front office of the San Antonio Spurs are playing their roles without bringing controversy to the team. Last week, reports surfaced that Aldridge wanted out after only a year, as the Spurs would be looking to trade away the star big. LaMarcus publicly came out to debunk any rumors of him being disgruntled with the Spurs, which we still find awkward.
However, according to those around the NBA, there’s something still going with Aldridge, San Antonio’s front office and coach Gregg Popovich – who was pressured to convert LaMarcus in 2015.
After acquiring Pau Gasol and David Lee, we thought the Spurs would be in a good space with the retiring of captain Tim Duncan. Now it looks like the team could be in an immediately rebuilding process, resembling Paul George and the Indiana Pacers (see: Kawhi Leonard) if the team has another early playoff exit in May. At the moment, we don’t see him going to a non-contender, as he’s approaching the age of 32, which he’ll also be able to opt out of his $80 million deal next summer.
