7 Players on Kentucky Wildcats Declare for NBA Draft

A bulk of their scoring and rebounding is now gone

Although the Kentucky Wildcats didn’t go undefeated throughout the length of the NCAA Tournament and claim the championship trophy against Duke, they still had a stellar season. The school managed to dominate during the regular season and now, seven players from this year’s team have now declared for the NBA Draft.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Willie Cauley-Stein, Devin Booker, Trey Lyles, Dakari Johnson, Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison have all become eligible, some could of which could go in the Top 5. Towns seems to be one of the most highly touted picks of the bunch, with Cauley-Stein still getting some shine and projected to go in the lottery. Lyles and Booker are looking to still be in play for the first round, but the Harrison twins and Johnson will have to prove their worth during workouts and team meetings, because at the moment, they’re looking like second round picks.

With these losses, only freshman point guard Tyler Ulis, forward Marcus Lee and veteran Alex Poythress remain on the team, with at least three of the Top 10 recruits from high school making their way to Lexington in the fall. There are still some top prospects (seven to be exact) that haven’t declared and Coach Calipari is hoping to snag at least one or two to Kentucky for next year.

The NBA Draft takes place on June 25, 2015.
