What Adrien Broner Needs to Do after Oscar Valdez Win & What PBC Boxing Has Planned for Him

Pop Bottles, cash checks, have sex. . .

Last night, Adrien Broner won his first fight since 2017’s bout over Adrían Granados in his hometown of Cincinnati. After missing two years in the ring, the Problem was back in action with Jovanie Santiago. From scorecards, it looked like Santiago ran away with the fight; but several peers in the sports like Terence Crawford felt Broner won.

During the early stages of the bout, Adrien looked extremely rusty after not fighting for two years. As the night progressed, he eventually gained steamed and won the majority of the second half of the fight. Now, with this return under his belt, Broner has to keep focus and leave the extra-curricular activities alone.

At the immediate moment, he needs about two more tune up fights, before he’s ready to compete for high-tier people. Right now, if he gets in the ring with Manny Pacquiao, Shawn Porter, Danny García, Kell Brook or even Keith Thurman; he’ll get washed. That’s not to say he won’t eventually get back to elite status in the right, but he’s just not there right now.

The PBC plan is for him to eventually get back to elite status and then lose. This is something Adrien has to realize, because they’re not on his side. Boxing needs ratings and a mouth piece, which is exactly what the UFC does with Conor McGregor. To avoid that same situation, don’t take any upper-card fighters until you have two more fights under your belt.
