Al Michaels and Bob Costas Speak on NFL Saturation

On this week’s Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, Hall of Fame broadcasters Al Michaels and Bob Costas joined the show. One of the big topics they talked about is the over-saturation of NFL games, seeing as how we have them on all day Sunday, Monday night and Thursday night. Ratings for the league are currently down and the NFL is trying to figure out how to fix it.

Al and Bob said that part of the problem is the fact that Monday night has lost viewership to Sunday night, because the league has promoted it to be the number one game of the week (in which it has). Plus, Michaels complained that the Thursday night games are looking like college matches out there with the weird uniforms.

In their “Mail Bag” segment, the two hilariously bragged about some cool shit in their careers, like Costas getting called by O.J. Simpson in the back of the Bronco during the infamous high speed chase, Michaels shooting craps with Al Capone and more.
