No Disney rings this year. . . .
Last week, we brought attention to the Anthony Davis injury the league and major media was ignoring. Sadly, the Lakers medical trainers rushed him back to the court, with an inevitable injury happening. This same occurrence, happened to Kobe Bryant during his 2013 run, where he complained about stress on his legs prior to the career changing setback.
AD sat out only two games, and was rushed back to the court last weekend, in their blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets. It got to the point, where LeBron James gave up on the game (like he always does), scoring just 1 point after AD’s injury exit. Now, the Lakers are facing enormous problems, with potentially losing their best player for a large bulk of the season.
However, the league has already dumped so much money into making sure the self-proclaimed King makes it to the Finals. Now, those plans look to be strained, if AD can’t come back at 100 percent strength. With the Utah Jazz taking complete control of the NBA (rightfully so), the Lakers find themselves at a crossroads with upcoming games against playoff teams.
At 21-7, they play Brooklyn, Miami, Washington, Utah, Portland, Golden State, and Phoenix before the all-star break. We expect them to lose more than half of those games, at the bare minimum; which would affect their immediate playoff seedings. Now, with the trade deadline looming, the Los Angeles Lakers have jumped in discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andre Drummond.
Today, rumors already surfaced that the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors were the main two teams going after him. However, the Lakers are now aggressively rethinking out their immediate future, following the Brooklyn Nets acquisition of James Harden. After making various moves in free agency, the Lakers have pieces to shuffle around and land Drummond sometime in March.
