Anthony Davis Breaks Silence on Trade Request & Future

The talk of the NBA this whole week (what Super Bowl?!) has been Anthony Davis, the trade deadline and how the chips will fall in the offseason.

Today, in talking to the media, AD spoke on what’s going on and why.

Apparently, Davis said he didn’t mean for any of this stuff to go public because he wanted to keep things in-house. He put the blame on his manager Rich Paul, saying a reporter inquired on what’s going on (and Rich couldn’t keep his mouth shut?), but he never gave the Pelicans a “destination” on where he wanted to go. He also elaborated about being in his prime and how much he wants to compete for championships.

He did emphasize that he’s given New Orleans all he could and it just wasn’t good enough. He’s looking for legacy in the future.

Meanwhile, his pops is out here putting those “AD to Boston” rumors to bed:

If this indeed echoes thoughts by his son, it doesn’t look like the Boston Celtics will be putting their hat in the trade ring and the Los Angeles Lakers are in the driver’s seat. Of course, this puts a damper on the Pelicans because at this point, they have to trade him to L.A. and his value is quickly depreciating.

What team is going to trade for him as a rental if he’s going to bounce to California after a year? Who would go all-in on him?

The biggest question is whether or not he gets traded before the deadline.
