Anthony Davis Finally Reveals True Feelings About DeMarcus Cousins Joining Warriors

Anthony Davis is not an outspoken guy. He doesn’t get on the podium and say shit that makes headlines. He just does his work and keeps it moving.

For these reasons, it’s interesting to hear what he had to say about DeMarcus Cousins joining the Golden State Warriors. Up until this point, he’s only wished his former teammate the best of luck as he heads to California. In an interview with Complex, his sentiments stayed the same, but there was some salt with what he added to his previous statements.

“I mean, I’m happy for him. He did what he did. He chose the right team for his career right now with his injury, I’m assuming. I wish the best of luck to him and we’ll see him three maybe four times this year, and try to beat him. Now he’s the enemy. Anybody who’s not on the Pelicans is an enemy to me. He went from a teammate to an enemy.”

Though he shouldn’t blame Boogie for not resigning with the New Orleans Pelicans, especially because the team didn’t even have an offer for him, it’s peculiar to hear him say this.

Of course, it’s all in competition on the court, but it’s easy to see he’s not too happy with Cousins switching sides. In theory, the two could remain best of friends off the court, yet it feels like things have changed now. Expect extra physical play from both sides when these two meet next season. That first game Boogie plays in New Orleans (if he’s healthy enough at that point) is going to be one to watch.

Next season, Julius Randle and Nikola Mirotić will fill the void Cousins left behind after his ACL injury alongside AD in New Orleans. We will never know how this team could have done with him healthy, but one thing is for sure, they were still killing without him. Just ask the Portland Trail Blazers how that sweep tasted.
