To start the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers made a big splash by trading for Anthony Davis, even though they mortgaged their future in the NBA Draft to do so. Now that he’s in the purple and gold, he is looking forward to playing with his new teammates and the upcoming season.
In a talk with Rachel Nichols, AD touched about a myriad of topics.
As far as playing with LeBron James, he said he’s not worried about the media attention surrounding him or the team because he just wants to play ball. He also spoke on his relationship with Rob Pelinka this offseason and how much the two spoke in light of free agency, including himself trying to recruit Kawhi Leonard.
Lastly, he said he’s not worried about his free agency next year because he’s focused on helping the team win this year. Knowing the tradition that the Lake Show carries has only motivated him to bring a championship to L.A. That’s the entire reason he left the New Orleans Pelicans. He felt like his time was up and wanted to move on to something better and put himself in a better position to win.
Davis is not worried about the long-term ramifications of his future. Only what’s going on now and what he can do with his new team.
