Is the Kemba Walker era over with the Charlotte Hornets? It seems like that’s where things are headed, because as Adrian Wojnarowski reports, the Boston Celtics are front-runners to sign him for his services this offseason.
The two sides are expected to meet right after free agency opens, with Walker and his agent looking to be offered a 4-year, $141 million deal with the Celtics.
The Boston Celtics have emerged as the frontrunner to sign Charlotte All-Star guard Kemba Walker once free agency opens Sunday at 6 PM ET, league sources tell ESPN.

According to Wojnarowski, he’s likely to accept it.
With Boston making Kemba their number one target in free agency, this means they have given up on Kyrie Irving and will most likely renounce the rights to Terry Rozier, to clear enough cap space to sign their man to a max contract.
The Celtics will go into the season with a lineup that boasts Walker and young pieces Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, which could still make noise in the Eastern Conference. Gordon Hayward is also still under contract, but Al Horford is out the door and will not be providing that veteran presence in the locker room.
Could they still contend next season?
