The man responsible for putting together the current Cleveland Cavaliers squad and bringing a championship to The Land for the first time in over a half century is now packing up and leaving town.
David Griffin will no longer be part of the organization, as owner Dan Gilbert decided to part ways with him after a difference of opinion regarding the future of the team. Sources tell ESPN that Griffin did not want to stay, even after LeBron James pushed for him to get an extension.
There is no candidate in site for the Cavs as of now, but the search begins now.
The Cavs organization put out a statement through Gilbert about the news, thanking Griffin and reassuring fans that the team will be active this offseason.
Griffin also put out his own statement on the parting of ways.
Griffin was elbow deep today, as late as an hour ago, working to put together a monster deal to get Jimmy Butler from Chicago.
