Just when we heard about Dwyane Wade possibly making a move to Cleveland, it seems like the front office is working behind-the-scenes to send Kyrie Irving packing. And it might be with their biggest threat in the Eastern Conference.
Why they would do this is a little baffling, but it seems like the potential benefits for each side might outweigh the fact they’re going to be battling it out for the No. 1 seed next season.

For the Celtics, they can get one of the best point guards in the league to pair with new man Gordon Hayward and their young core. Yes, they lose out on IT4, but fans wouldn’t be too upset to have Kyrie in the fold.
For the Cavs, they get a proven point in Thomas, plus they can get a young player back and someone like Jae Crowder in return to build the bench. Maybe even a draft pick.
Would this be enough to keep James in Cleveland, though? We’ll see.
UPDATE: It’s a done deal. Dan Gilbert will be saving about $19 million dollars in luxury tax next season.
