Cleveland Cavs Defeat Toronto Raptors to Advance to 2016 NBA Finals

The LeBron James Game 6 close out he’s so widely known for was in full effect on Friday night, as the Cleveland Cavaliers faced the Toronto Raptors on the road in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the series, the home team had won every game so far, but on this night, it would be King James who would come out victorious.

Throughout the first quarter, it was back and forth, but the Cavs proved to be a bit too much for the Raptors, who couldn’t find the rhythm to keep up the scoring prowess.

By halftime, Cleveland managed to pull the lead to 14 points, but coming out of the break, it was a runaway freight train all the way to the end.

Kyle Lowry fought as much as he could and finished the game with 35 points, while DeMar DeRozan contributed with 20 of his own, but their role players came up short in such a crucial game.

On the other side of the ball, the Cavs starters came out firing. Kevin Love recorded a double double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, Kyrie Irving snapped for 30 points, LBJ added 33 points and 11 rebounds and J.R. Smith contributed with 15 points, going 5-8 shooting from three.

LBJ’s Emotional Post-Game Interview

Although most of his teammates are inexperienced in the playoffs and have never played a full NBA Finals series (and/or been at this stage), this is LeBron’s sixth straight trip to the promise land. When he made his trip back to Cleveland from Miami, he promised the city a championship and on back-to-back years, he has taken his team to the top of the Eastern Conference.

With all the diversity throughout the year (coaching change halfway through the season, dealing with injuries and team changes), your beasts from the East are the Cavaliers.

Believeland is looking to break the drought.
